Automatic Loading and Unloading Increase Throughput During UDI Marking

To comply with US and European regulations, all medical tools and implants must be marked with a Unique Device Identifier (UDI) code, a process which involves not only marking but passivation, cleaning, packaging and labelling. Medical device manufacturer add’n solutions has partnered with FOBA and fruitcore robotics to develop a robotic system to improve efficiency when marking a wide variety of surgical instruments. The system, nicknamed “HORST”, takes instrument-loaded trays from a trolley, loads them into the FOBA M2000-P marking system, and then places the tray back into the trolley. Thanks to smooth communication between HORST and the marking laser, the combined system can mark large quantities quickly and accurately.
