Raymax Lasers and GSI Group News - Redefining the price-performance of High-Power CW lasers

GSI launches their new flagship continuous wave (CW) laser with SuperModulation™.

The JK2003SM can offer comparable materials processing speeds and penetration as a 4kW laser from other manufacturers, but at a much-reduced cost-of ownership. Nominally having a 2kW CW output and price-point, GSI’s patented SuperModulation™ and Dual Cavity technology enables good productivity with high quality results.

Already in service in customer locations worldwide, the latest product in the new JK series shares the same reliable platforms allowing customers to benefit from maximum uptime and ease of maintenance.

SuperModulation™ produces significant performance benefits including higher weld speeds, reduced porosity, increased weld penetration. But don’t just take our word for it: TWI, the influential world-class materials joining research institute, has recently published the results of their intensive study into SuperModulation™ confirming the increased performance benefits.

Integration is best-in-class, via a library of interfacing tools. Usability is straightforward with the laser operation being managed through GSI’s LaserView™ SE user interface.

Carpenter Technology has installed a JK2003SM to replace MIG welding on a coil welding line in their facility in Pennsylvania. Tom Balliett of Carpenter said "This was our first application of laser processing and GSI Group developed a rugged, repeatable production process for us. We had some concerns about using a laser in our production environment but the JK2003SM laser and fiber optic beam delivery has been totally reliable. The LaserView™ software has allowed us to integrate to the existing production process and then program and monitor laser performance allowing a high level of quality assurance"

John Chinn, JK Product Manager said “this latest addition to our new JK series of lasers not only allows use of patent Luminator™ fibres, famous for their robust back-reflection protection, ease of integration to our wide user-base in many industries, but offers significant value for money to customers”.
