Cutting and Drilling

laser cutting

Lasers can cut and drill most engineering materials from metals to ceramics, plastics and organics. As the materials react differently to different types of lasers (YAG, Diode, CO2), it is important to match the correct laser to the material to be processed.

Oganisations have utilised Laser Systems for cuttinglaser drilling metals, plastics and ceramics for the last twenty years. Laser cutters can make two dimensional and three dimensional cuts depending upon the materials handling equipment (e.g. X-Y Tables, Robots).

Accurate drilling processes can be performed using a Laser. The advantages of laser drilling include:

  • Accuracy of the positioning and dimensions of the hole.
  • No tooling maintenance (i.e. Drill Sharpening or Replacement).
  • Very fine hole diameters (In the Micron Diameter Range)
  • Laser Life Cutting systems are designed for cutting plastics, cardboards, timber and thin sheet metal. The laser light is generated from a sealed CO2 tube and powers range from 25W to 400W. The bed...
